Come together Christmas has been running for 6 years.
We are working with 14 community centres across Liverpool this year. We use mainly social media to raise awareness of the conditions many families are facing over the Christmas period to help collect donations.
We deliver all donations to the community centres a few days before Christmas. The centres then provide families in there local area in desperate need of support with toys/gifts for their children and gift vouchers for teens, gas, electricity and Tesco food vouchers from the Just Giving funds.
The beauty about the appeal is that the men and woman who run the community centres work within the community all year around. This means they know exactly who needs our support and can guarantee every donation finds its way to those children and parents most in desperate need.
We have over over 45 businesses listed on our CTC instagram page who support us by becoming official CTC drop off spots. This makes it more convenient and easy for people to donate toys by dropping them in to the nearest drop off spot to them.
Our main hub is based in Alkafuel 122 Derby lane old swan L13 3DW with someone there every day to accept donations.
This year’s cut off for all toys/gifts is Wednesday the 18th December at 8pm.
The cut off for the Just Giving page is 9pm on the 20th of December.
This year across the 14 community centres we work with we have identified 1246 children between the ages of 0-17 who will receive absolutely nothing on Christmas morning. There are also 1000’s of parents and families struggling to cover the costs of their gas, electricity and food. Food banks and food pantries all over the city are also running extremely low on supplies meaning for many parents it’s a case of choosing between toys for their children or to feed them.
